Silver Lake Summer Retreat Amador County |
This retreat offers something for everyone. For the hikers, we have an easier hike to Granite Lake, passing a beautiful waterfall along the way, and on Saturday a more challenging hike to the top of 9400’ Thunder Mountain, with views of Silver Lake, Kirkwood ski resort, and the high Sierra range.
For those wanting a more relaxing getaway, Silver Lake is perfect for fishing, swimming, or sunbathing on its granite slab shores, or you can rent a canoe or kayak and paddle out to Treasure Island in the middle of the lake for exploring or a picnic lunch.

Friday, we’ll leave from our campsite at 2 p.m. and follow the Granite Lake trail the this small but pretty alpine lake.
Saturday, we’ll leave the campsite at 8:45 a.m. and drive a short distance to the Horse Canyon Trailhead off hwy 88, take the Horse Canyon Trail, turn left on the Thunder Mtn. trail to the summit of Thunder Mtn. We’ll return via the same route.
